Visit our Raw Food  RestaurantIt is extremely important to end a fast slowly - Any fool can do a fast but it takes a wise person to break one properly! Please be kind to your body by starting with easy to digest foods. Stick to raw foods (please note that some of our raw food cuisine contains nuts, which should not be eaten until day four!) for the first 2 or 3 days -fruits, salads and plenty of juices and water.

We recommend your first meal to be fresh fruit such as watermelon, papaya and mango but avoid bananas (technically a starch and harder to digest). You may want to stick to just fruit the first day but if not you can try a salad for lunch or dinner. Eat small portions and be careful to chew your food well to aid digestion – respect your fresh clean stomach!

On the third day you can introduce cooked foods such as vegetable soups or lightly steamed vegetables. The longer you maintain the above diet, the better you will feel. After the third day you can eat all types of fruit, including bananas, and slowly introduce carbohydrates and if desired, animal proteins such as eggs, fish and chicken, back into your diet.

The golden rule is to start eating more raw foods everyday – fresh fruits and salads (alkalizing foods).

Remember: Alkaline foods, such as fruits and vegetables, are great detoxifiers of the body. Alkaline constituents are also used to feed the body; they are truly the regenerators. Acid foods slow, inhibit or stop the detoxification process. They are inflammatory and mucus-forming, causing tissue failure to the body. Acids can become free radicals, causing tissue damage, unless linked to an antioxidant (alkaline) and removed. Examples of acid-forming foods are dairy products specifically, and proteins in general.

To ensure healthy intestinal flora, it’s a good idea to continue taking probiotics prior to sleep for at least 1 week after completing the fast. Plus one probiotic after each meal on the first day of eating.

To ensure regular bowel movements, we also recommend taking psyllium husk with water for at least one more week. Take every morning on an empty stomach followed by a glass of water.

If you experience constipation after completing the fast you can also take Senna tea (herbal laxative) before you sleep.
