The spinal column houses the all-important nervous system and by maintaining the spine’s strength and flexibility, circulation is improved, nourishing the whole nervous system. Asanas also affect the internal organs and the endocrine system,strengthening and nourishing glands, bringing hormonal balance. In general we can define good health as a state when all the organs and body parts including joints, tissues, muscles, cells, nerves and glands function in perfect harmony under the intelligent control of the mind. Yoga is geared towards this physical and mental harmony, recognizing that the body, mind and spirit are not separate entities; they interact at various levels of consciousness and that an imbalance in one will lead to a problem in the other. Yoga practice brings harmony to body, mind and soul. Our classes at the Wellness Spa are hatha yoga classes with Iyengar influences. Iyengar yoga (named after its creator Yogacharya B.K.S.
