Yoga

Yoga is a complete health package with endless benefits. Toning, lengthening and strengthening muscles, stress reduction, relaxation and pain management are not the only benefits of yoga practice.

Yoga SalaYoga has the power to heal the root cause of diseases by harmonizing the body, mind and soul. Most yoga practitioners would agree that its benefits begin at the physical level but lead to mental peace and clarity which ultimately leads toward a happy, healthier life.
Yogic physical exercises are called Asanas, meaning steady pose. This is because the Asana (or posture) is meant to be held for some time. The more advanced you become the longer you can hold the postures, deepening and increasing the benefits.

Your body is as young as it is flexible. Yoga asanas focus primarily on the health of your spine - its strength and flexibility, leading to improved posture and freedom from aches and pains. The spinal column houses the all-important nervous system and by maintaining the spine’s strength and flexibility, circulation is improved, nourishing the whole nervous system. Asanas also affect the internal organs and the endocrine system, strengthening and nourishing glands, bringing hormonal balance.

In general we can define good health as a state when all the organs and body parts including joints, tissues, muscles, cells, nerves and glands function in perfect harmony under the intelligent control of the mind. Yoga is geared towards this physical and mental harmony, recognizing that the body, mind and spirit are not separate entities; they interact at various levels of consciousness and that an imbalance in one will lead to a problem in the other.

Yoga practice brings harmony to body, mind and soul.

Our classes at the Wellness Spa are hatha yoga classes with Iyengar influences. Iyengar yoga (named after its creator Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar) is meant for all and is a way of life.

Techniques masterminded by B.K.S. Iyengar focus on precision and alignment, and can be used by anyone.
The use of props, such as blocks, belts and cushions helps everyone achieve perfection in the asanas, regardless of strength and flexibility.

Regular practice of Iyengar yoga integrates the body, mind and emotions.

“Health is Wealth. Peace of mind is Happiness. Yoga shows the way”

Meditation

Mike NamasteMeditation directs your attention inward, calming the mind and deepening your awareness. Our sometimes stressful lives create tensions and negative emotions.

Meditation and Yoga practice can help overcome such negative emotions and improve our capacity to endure stress by strengthening the nervous system, bringing chemical balance of the brain, clarity of mind and emotional stability.

Our guided meditation classes at the Wellness Spa teach you a few simple techniques to help calm and still your mind, bringing a feeling of inner peace and happiness. By turning the mind’s concentration inward, upon the self, we can deepen our experience of perfect concentration. This is the state of meditation.
